Datalogic is pleased to announce the release of the Heron HD3430 2D area imager. The HD3430 2D area imager is the first handheld reader featuring a proprietary 2D multi-purpose imaging engine developed by Datalogic.

This high-performance 2D scan engine features a global shutter WVGA sensor optimized for high speed-to-read and outstanding motion tolerance, a key feature for the Retail market and POS checkout applications. In particular, when the Heron HD3430 2D area imager is used in its stand, the high motion tolerance allows bar codes to be read easily and precisely even when moving quickly and carelessly in front of the scanners’ window.

The unmatched ergonomics of this product versus any other competitor is further enhanced by an efficient white illumination and precise 4-dot center-cross laser aiming system for the most effective data capture activity at the POS checkout. Furthermore, Datalogic’s patented ‘Green Spot’ technology is included, providing visual feedback with each bar code read.

The Heron HD3430 2D area imager completes the Heron family offering by adding 2D reading capability to the existing readers and providing customers with an unmatched choice regarding price and bar code reading needs.

The HD3430 2D area imager reaffirms the unmatched elegance of the existing HD3130 linear imager including the same design features such as multiple color changing lights, innovative and modern design material, color and artwork together with the audio speaker to extend the customer’s brand experience.

Offering multiple opportunities to incorporate a ‘company’ brand identity, the HD3430 2D area imager allows customers to combine the perfect blend: merging a company logo and top cover color with customized visual and audio feedback, all of which is designed to promote a customer’s brand during checkout.

To delight consumers and provide an additional point-of-eye contact for operators, multiple changing color LEDs on the sides and the top of the imager are featured. The default value is ‘blue’ for idle mode and ‘green’ for good-read feedback. However, both of these colors can be easily personalized or changed by reading a bar code on the QRG or by using Datalogic’s Aladdin™ configuration software to select from a comprehensive set of colors.

Differing from the usual coloring scheme of the standard handheld data capture devices, the HD3430 2D area imager breaks the mold and provides a stunning ‘black’ or ‘white’ enclosure color options. Additionally, the Heron imager features gleaming in-mold decorated top covers with a choice of ‘Carbon-Fiber’ or ‘Silver’ design look, adding a touch of elegance and easy customization.

With the curving lines of its innovative shape, the HD3430 2D area imager brings elegance to the counter and perfectly suits stores for which the design is a distinctive element. Additionally, a high quality polyphonic speaker can be configured to provide the preferred sound or ‘jingle’ for audio confirmations of a good-read.

The Heron HD3430 2D area imager can also be customized with a company logo, top cover and visual/audio feedback to allow companies to boost the knowledge of their brand while combining a scanner with brand advertising.

As with many of the Datalogic products, the HD3430 2D area imager also provides the patented ‘Green Spot’ technology for good-read feedback.

Just like the Heron linear model (HD3130), an auto-sensing stand with automatic code detecting is included with all of the Heron HD3430 imager part numbers. This stand allows the reader to be used in a hands-free mode or to be used as a holder when the product is not in use. When placed in the stand, the reader beeps and automatically switches to hands-free mode. At the same time, the 4-dot center-cross laser aimer is projected to a clear reference, visually showing the user where to position the bar code for quick and effective reading. The auto-sensing stand, together with automatic bar code detecting, further improves the flexibility of use with the Heron HD3430 2D area imager, effective not only as handheld reader but also as presentation imager.
